Snow Emergency Declared by Mayor Dobbs

Mayor Dobbs has declared a snow emergency in the Borough of Jenkintown beginning today, February 6th, 8:00 PM expiring Sunday, February 7th at 8:00 PM. Residents with access to a driveway are asked to please park in it.  If you do not have access to a driveway please park as close to the curb as possible to allow for the safe passage of the Borough plow trucks. The forecast is for a significant snow accumulation (4-7″) with some freezing rain. The low temperatures and anticipated wintry mix are expected to make for treacherous driving conditions throughout this winter storm. If you must travel please take along the recommended safety gear and allow extra time to navigate the expected icy roads. The Jenkintown Police Department and Public Works Department will be staffed throughout the entire storm and are prepared to respond accordingly.

  • Borough Hall: Admin Staff will be working remotely during this emergency. At this time Borough Hall is planned to re-open for business by appointment only on Monday, February 8th.
  • Public Works: The Jenkintown Borough Public Works Department began preparing the storm response equipment on Friday. The crew will return to work through the duration of the storm salting and plowing when needed in order to keep the roads clear for emergency vehicles and safe passage of the general public as needed.
