Tropical Storm Watch and Flash Flood Warning in effect Today, August 3, 10:00 PM until August 5, 12:00 AM

Today, August 3, 2020 there is a TROPICAL STORM WATCH and FLASH FLOOD WARNING in effect throughout Montgomery County, PA that will affect Jenkintown Borough Residents.  This potential weather threat is in effect from this evening, August 3 at approximately 10:00 PM EDT through Wednesday, August 5, 12:00 AM EDT.  According to the  opens in a new windowNational Weather Service, widespread amounts of heavy rain of 4-6 inches or more associated with Tropical Storm Isaias, along with high winds are expected which can cause flash flooding.    

  • Safety measures in the event of a power outage: There is always the possibility of a power outage due to the high winds that accompany a storm.  If you use a power generator, please make sure the generator is located outside in the open air for proper ventilation.  Any portable heaters or candles that may be used in the event of a power outage should not be located near anything flammable.
  • Public Works: The Jenkintown Borough Public Works Department have cleared inlets and put signs up around areas where flash flooding is expected.  Please be aware of your surroundings and adhere to the NO PARKING signs located in expected FLASH FLOOD areas.
  • PECO: Customers experiencing any issues should contact PECO at 1-800-841-4141, peco.com or PECO Smart Mobile On-the-Go, the company’s mobile enhanced website. PECO has announced that they have manned their emergency response centers in case of power outages.
