The Public Sanitary Sewer Lining Project continues Monday, August 17th through Thursday, August 20th on the following streets between the hours of 8:00 PM and 4:00 AM. Flaggers will be on site during this night work to assist with traffic control due to temporary lane closures. Door hangers have been placed on the properties that will be affected.
- Greenwood Avenue between Nice Avenue and Washington Lane
- Township Line Road between Mather Spur and Summit Avenue
- Washington Lane between Wyncote Road and Township Line Road
During this phase of the project the contractor, National Water Main Cleaning Company, will complete the cured in place pipe (CIPP) spot repairs. During this final phase, there will be a temporary disruption of sewer service to your residence or business of approximately 8 hours. If there are any special circumstances that require the Contractor or Borough Engineers attention the numbers to contact them are provided below so that coordination can take place.
To avoid the possibility of flows backing up into your property during this period, you will be asked to please limit all liquids from going down your drains and do not use washing machines or dishwashers. Failure to follow these instructions may cause your discharge to backup into your property.
Please note that the liner may temporarily emit a chemical smell during installation. PLEASE DO NOT BECOME ALARMED; THIS IS NORMAL.
If you have a sump pump that discharges into the sewer, it must be disconnected during this installation process and is not permitted to be reconnected as discharging ground water in to the sanitary sewer is not permitted within Jenkintown Borough and the State of Pennsylvania.
The roads will remain open during this process, but there may be intermittent temporary delays in the area to allow for life safety of personnel performing the work. Additionally, there will be limited parking in various areas along these roads during this process. Those areas will be clearly marked with signage. Please use caution in the area or make plans to take an alternate route to avoid further disruption to your travels. Thank you for your patience and understanding while these necessary improvements are made.
This work is taking place on the Publicly owned portion of the Borough Sanitary Sewer System and is part of the continual and ongoing effort by the Borough to reduce inflow and infiltration (I&I) to the sanitary sewer system, saving money on treatment costs, addressing environmental concerns and providing for additional sanitary sewer capacity allowing for future or proposed business EDU connections. The funding on this project is being provided through the State Grant Funding (PA Small Water Grant) in the amount of $390,000 that the Borough was awarded.
