The Borough has been notified that PECO will be continuing their upgrade program to replace the aging underground natural gas infrastructure in the Borough.
Every day, PECO delivers innovation and advances smart energy to provide safe, reliable, affordable and clean energy for our customers and the communities they serve. As part of their commitment, PECO is working to upgrade our natural gas equipment and improve service in our neighborhood. This work includes replacing existing natural gas main and/or service lines with new underground pipe, which enhances safety, is more durable and improves service reliability.
PECO will begin upgrading gas mains on Florence Avenue, Runnymede to Rodman Avenues; Runnymede Avenue, Cloverly to Rodman Avenues; and Walnut Street, from SEPTA Tracks to Rodman Avenue. This work is scheduled to begin on February 3rd, 2020. Customers will be receiving notifications approximately two weeks prior to the start of work. A copy of the February 3rd, 2020 letter can be found here.
The borough will use email blasts and its website to report on PECO’s progress and upcoming street closures/reconfiguration. The installation of the new PECO gas mains and services is being performed and coordinated by Henkles & McCoy. If you have any questions regarding this project and for scheduling purposes, please contact Christopher Long of Henkels & McCoy at (215)-907-0847
PECO, Henkles & McCoy, and Jenkintown Borough are collaborating closely in order to minimize the impact on residents, businesses and property owners. However, because of the magnitude of the project, some disruption is inevitable. Any roads that have been paved within the past five years and are disturbed during the gas main replacement project will be repaved curb to curb at the expense of PECO.
Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding throughout this project. As always, please feel free to call the borough at 215 885 0700 if you require our assistance or stop in Borough hall.
