The Zoning & Land Development Applications page on the Borough website has been updated.
Tonight the Jenkintown Borough Planning Commission will meet at Borough hall, 700 Summit Avenue. The regularly scheduled meeting begins at 6:30 PM. The Planning Commission agenda is posted on the Borough website and is available here. The Planning Commission has been working to roll out and implement the Jenkintown Borough 2035 Comprehensive Plan. Agenda items include the Historic building resource protection, zoning code update, sub-division and land development updates. The new business this evening will be discussion on a T-Mobile antenna zoning request for 610 York Road that was denied and will be filing for a Zoning Board Hearing seeking zoning relief. There will also be a presentation for a land development and conditional use applicant by the property owner of 93 York Road. This project received all required zoning relief from the JB Zoning Hearing Board in October 2018 and has now filed all appropriate applications to proceed with the Land Development and Conditional Use processes.
Please find the information below as a summary of the proposed project:
93 York Road / Paul Aschkenasy – 93 York Road, Jenkintown, Pa 19046. The property owners have attended several BZ&R Committee meetings to discuss a proposed redevelopment of their property at 93 York Road. The main tenant space has been vacant for seven years and in its current configuration the owner is not optimistic about finding a viable tenant. The owner is proposing a total upgrade to the main building and site with design to retain current commercial tenants as well as attract new tenants on the first floor while retrofitting the second floor for 24 apartments. In addition to retrofitting the main building the owner has an opportunity to acquire a high profile tenant in the second building on site, reconfigure the onsite parking and drive lanes. This application has been accepted as complete and the applicant begins the land development and conditional use process this evening. The project will require the following approvals; Land Development / Borough Council, Conditional Use / Borough Council, Storm Water / Borough Engineer, EDU sanitary sewer / Pa DEP, R.O.W. / PennDOT, Traffic Study / Borough Engineer and will also be reviewed by the JB Planning Commission and the Montgomery County Planning Commission. Please note the Conditional Use process is a legal process at which Borough Council resides over. Therefore Borough Council cannot deliberate on the Conditional Use aspects of this application outside the legal hearing process. The Land Development aspect CAN be discussed openly by Borough Council at public meetings. All procedures are governed by the Pa MPC and State Borough Code.
