As part of our continuing infrastructure improvement program, Aqua Pennsylvania (AQUA) has notified the Borough that they will begin the second phase of their water main replacement project. The notification sent by Aqua (attached here) was sent to residents in the affected areas. The PHASE TWO portion of the project will begin on Monday, September 9, 2019 and will be conducted on Homestead Road from York Road to Newbold Road, Vernon Road from Rydal Road to Washington Lane and Newbold Road from Rydal Road to Washington Lane. Residents on these roads will continue to have access to their properties throughout this process.
The current tentative schedule for next week is as follows:
9/9- AQUA’s subcontractor, Caddick Utilities will begin exploratory excavation of this project
9/10- Caddick Utilities will begin excavations to make the connections of the new watermain at Rydal / Vernon Roads followed by Rydal / Newbold Road
9/11- Caddick Utilities will begin excavations to make the connections of the new watermains at York / Homestead Roads
Once these water main connections are made the excavation and placement of the watermain will take place. The installation of the individual water services to customers will follow once the installation of the watermains have been completed. Any road opening will be backfilled daily or safety plated and opened to traffic. The trench will have temporary restoration at the end of each work day.
At the completion of the Aqua Pennsylvania water main upgrade project, Jenkintown Borough intends to include these roads on the upcoming annual road paving program. During that process all curb and sidewalk will be inspected and non-code compliant curb and sidewalk will be marked for repair or replacement. Should a resident choose to schedule an onsite meeting and inspection for budgeting purposes, please call Borough hall to schedule.
Aqua Pennsylvania has no planned road closures at this venture of the project, but there will be intermittent disruptions to traffic on the dates referenced. Flaggers will be on site to help control the flow of traffic.
If you do not reside on one of these roads, please plan to take another route during these times to avoid disruption to your travels.
Please contact Borough hall at 215-885-0700 with any questions or concerns. If you have an emergency dial 911.
