The 2019 paving project is now scheduled to commence and be completed next week, Monday, September 9th through September 11th. In addition to the Borough issued notifications, the Borough’s paving Contractor, Associated Paving, is required to make direct notification to the residents on the roads to be milled and paved. Associated Paving will be posting no parking signs today, Friday, September 6th, in the affected areas which will be in effect beginning Monday, September 9th. While it is always the intent of the Borough to complete the paving project prior to the start of the school year, this year there were external factors outside of the Borough’s control. Due to school being open and the presence of children before and after school, extra safety precautions have been taken including adjusting the working hours of the Contractor, notification of the School District and advance planning with the Police Department including additional Police presence for safety during the arrival and dismissal process.
The 2019 paving project includes the milling and paving of Walnut Street between Greenwood & West Avenues, Highland Avenue between West & Hillside Avenues, as well as Cedar Street between Willow Street & Summit Avenue. Avoidance of the project area is recommended while work is being performed for the safety of the General Public and Contractors performing the work, as well as to avoid possible delays.
Associated Paving will begin the milling operation of Cedar Street at 7:00 AM. It should be noted that during the milling operation the roads being milled will be closed to through traffic however, residents will have continued access to their driveways.Once completed Cedar Street, Associated Paving will be moving to Walnut Street to begin the milling operation. Associated Paving is scheduled to complete the milling of Walnut Street, Highland Avenue, and Cedar Street on Monday, September 9th.
Associated Paving intends to begin the paving operation on Tuesday, September 10th on Cedar Street. Associated Paving will be paving Walnut Street after the completion of Cedar Street. During the paving operation the roads being paved will not be open to through traffic and residents will have limited access to their driveways.
Street parking will be restricted during the milling and paving operations, residents with driveways are encouraged to use them and properties utilizing street parking will need to find alternate locations during this project. If you have any circumstances/needs requiring special arrangements please contact Borough Hall so those arrangements can be made.
There will be continued communication and updates during this project that will include scheduling, parking restrictions, road restrictions and or closures. The Borough is excited to have this project completed and would like to thank all the residents and business owners for your patience and understanding during the infrastructure work and the restoration and repaving of the streets.
