The AQUA watermain project began today Thursday, June 20, 2019 on Highland Avenue. Highland Avenue will be closed to “thru traffic” so the roadway can be excavated and the new watermain installed safely. Highland Avenue is expected to re-open to “thru traffic” on Wednesday, June 26, 2019.
Excavation for the new watermain on Walnut Street will immediately follow this portion of the project. Information from this project is shown below from the previous email blast.
Aqua Pennsylvania is set to begin their planned infrastructure improvements within Jenkintown Borough. The first phase of the Aqua water main replacement project is scheduled to begin after the end of the school year, on Monday, June 17th and will include Highland Avenue between West and Hillside Avenues, as well as Walnut Street between Greenwood and West Avenues. There is a planned detour for Walnut Street on this project map shown here. The detour will be in effect Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM / 3:00 PM daily so the work can be performed safely. This phase of the Aqua water main replacement project is expected to last three months and every effort will be made to complete this portion of the project prior to the start of school.
Please plan to take another route during these times to avoid disruption to your travels. Residents will continue to have access to their properties during this detour.
Phase two of the Aqua water main replacement project will be conducted on Newbold, Vernon and Homestead Roads. Phase two is expected to begin in September following the completion of the phase one work. Further information will be provided on the phase two portion of the project once the start date is determined and announced.
