Jenkintown Borough hall will be closed this afternoon, Monday, April 15th. The closing is to allow the Professional Structural Engineers to complete their thorough structural inspection of the demolition at 610 Summit Avenue as it applies to the common wall with Borough hall. The property owner of 610 Summit Avenue has been responsive and has communicated to the Borough their intent to do everything possible to make the site safe and complete the demolition expeditiously. The demolition of the common wall is scheduled to be completed by the end of the work day on Wednesday 4/17. The Borough is seeking Professional assurance confirming that Borough hall is still safe to be occupied.
Although the structure was structurally evaluated on Friday, April 12th, the concerns have increased over the weekend due to the intense impending high winds that are forecast through out the day, Monday.
If the results of the Professional Engineers evaluation are such that Borough hall will not be re-opening tomorrow, Tuesday 4/16, a temporary place of Borough Business will be arranged until Borough hall is declared safe. Notification updates will be issued as more information becomes available.
