Jenkintown Borough Public Works along with the Borough Engineer, Pennoni Associates, will be dye tracing the storm water culvert on Monday, October 29th at 9:00 AM. The fluorescent RED dye which is environmentally safe, non toxic and 100% biodegradable will be added to the storm water culvert at Mather and Wyncote Roads. The red dye will then travel down the underground culvert on Mather Road to Mather Spur, across Township Line Road and will discharge into Cheltenham Township. This tracing process is being utilized in an effort to establish the discharge point location(s) in Cheltenham Township and assure that they are functioning properly.
This process on Mather Road is part of the larger project to remediate street flooding on Cedar Street during significant rain events and the entire conveyance system from that point through the discharge point(s) in Cheltenham Township. The Borough was recently awarded the 2018 DCED/Flood Mitigation Grant in the amount of $100,00.00 to assist in offsetting the costs of this project.
There is presently rain in our forecast for this weekend which will assist with the process to move the dye through the system. Cheltenham Township Officials and residents have also been notified of the upcoming dye process as well. Should you have any questions, please feel free to call Borough Hall at (215) 885-0700.
