Wednesday, April 25 – Public “Conditional Use Hearing” – Borough Council Meeting

In addition to the regularly scheduled April Borough Council meeting, as announced at the April 18th Conditional Use Hearing, Jenkintown Borough Council will hold a continuation of the public hearing, pertaining to the application submitted by Summit House Associates 2018 LLC, Wednesday April 25th, 2018. The regularly scheduled Borough Council meeting time has been changed to begin at 6:30 PM to allow for the Conditional Use hearing to begin at 7:30 PM. This time change has been advertised in a newspaper of general circulation as required by State Borough Code. 

The equitable property owner, Summit House Associates 2018 LLC, has submitted an application for a “Conditional Use”  to construct an age restricted, 74 unit apartment building at 610 Summit Avenue. In the Neighborhood Commercial/Residential Zoning District, a building containing more than two apartment units is defined as an apartment building and is a permitted conditional use. The subject property is 606-610 Summit Avenue, Jenkintown, Pennsylvania 19046.

The Applicant has requested the following to be heard as a conditional use: 1) Applicant requests conditional use approval from Section 181-49.B.1of the Ordinance to permit the construction of a five (5) story apartment building; 2) Applicant requests conditional use approval from Section 181-50.G.3 of the Ordinance to allow the proposed apartment building to be five (5) stories; and 3) Applicant requests conditional use approval from Section 181-51.C.3.c of the Ordinance to reduce the number of required parking spaces.

In granting a conditional use, the governing body may attach such reasonable conditions and safeguards, in addition to those expressed in the ordinance, as it may deem necessary to implement the purposes of the Municipal Planning Code. If a Conditional Use is approved the proposed project would then be required to obtain the following reviews/approvals; Building, DEP/edu, PennDOT, Borough Engineer, Borough Traffic Engineer,  Planning Commission, Land Development / Borough Council, SALDO and Storm Water.

The continuation of this public hearing will be held; Wednesday, April 25th, 7:30 PM at the Jenkintown Borough Hall located at 700 Summit Avenue, Jenkintown, Pennsylvania 19046 .
