The public is invited to volunteer for Martin Luther King “Day of Service” projects at Abington Friends School from 9 a.m. until noon on Monday, January 16. These meaningful projects benefit those in need who are served by many local organizations, including The Breathing Room Foundation, Aid for Friends and Whosoever Gospel Mission. Volunteers are needed to bake bread, make soup, create scarves and blankets and many other activities.
AFS, McKinley Elementary School in Abington and A Step Up Academy are partners in sponsoring this annual “Day of Service.” There are projects for people of all ages.
As part of the service program, AFS also will host a huge “Clothing Sale” at the AFS Lower School on Saturday, January 14, from 9 a.m. until noon. Hundreds of gently used items will be for sale, and none is priced higher than $3. Proceeds benefit the Montgomery County Women’s Center.
Abington Friends School is located at 575 Washington Lane, Jenkintown, Pa.
