On Wednesday August 31, 2016, officials from Jenkintown, Cheltenham, Montgomery County and the state all met to dedicate the Greenwood Avenue Bridge, which connects Jenkintown to Cheltenham, to Mr. Larry Curry, renaming the bridge to Honorable Lawrence H. Curry Bridge. Before retiring Mr. Curry served as a councilman in Jenkintown as well as two terms as a county commissioner and ten consecutive terms in the 154th District as a state lawmaker before retiring from the State House in 2012.
Mr. Curry was a history professor, particularly studying and participating in the civil rights movement. He also marched with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr in 1965 . No matter what office Mr. Curry held, he always focused on human services issues.
