Fox29 will be broadcasting their Good Day Philadelphia show live from Jenkintown this Friday, June 10. The show airs from 6:30 – 10am. It’s a great chance to show off our community to the Delaware Valley!
Street closures: The following streets will be closed from 6:30am until about 10:30am to accomodate the broadcast and ensure everyone’s safety:
West Avenue from York Road to Leedom Street
Leedom Street from West Avenue to Greenwood Avenue
Johnson Street from Cherry Street to West Avenue
Greenwood Avenue from Leedom Street to York Road
How you can participate: What Fox29 has asked for from Jenkintown is a large, energetic crowd in Town Square — business owners, residents, Borough Council folks, committee volunteers, firefighters, visitors, everyone! And SHOW YOUR COLORS!
They are really excited about Jenkintown’s Red and Blue Tradition and are hoping kids & adults can recreate their Color Day apparel, including face paint, wigs, everything. There will be lots going on in Town Square all morning, including chickens, live music, including Modern Colour and Pulley and Buttonhole’s “Jenkintown: The Musical,” food vendors, and much more.
They would like to open the 7:00 hour with a live shot of Jenkintown kids riding their bikes around the corner onto the Square at Leedom Street. Kids doing this are very likely to be on TV, so please be at the corner of West and Johnson at 6:30 a.m. to be included. Don’t forget to wear your helmets and ride safely – the police will watching and will ticket (the good kind).
Fox29 will also be broadcasting live from the front of the high school from 8 to 9 (they’ll be looking for the craziest Red and Blue outfits), in order to feature the Mini Singers, the Jazz Ensemble, and the Shakespeare Players; and from Jenkintown Square Shopping Center between 9:30-10.
They’re looking for lots of excited, energetic people who love Jenkintown’s traditions and community and KNOW HOW TO SHOW IT!! (The more creative, the better.)
See you at 6:30 Friday morning!
