UPDATE INFORMATION ON JENKINTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT K-9 ROCKY – MAY 2, 2014

Rocky is progressing well and is undergoing intense rehabilitation with the working dog center at the University of Pennsylvania hospital. He has lost about twelve pounds, all of which appears to be muscle mass. The rehabilitation will be a lengthy process; however, Rocky is already showing signs of improvement. He is evaluated each training day and the current thought is that he may be strong enough to return to duty in about five weeks, as long as his progress continues at the current pace. Rocky is the first working dog to participate in this newly formed rehabilitation center at the University of Pennsylvania hospital. The center treats canines for cancer and diabetes, as well as trains canines for drug and bomb detection, as well as other disciplines.
Again, the Jenkintown Police Department is extremely grateful for all the kind support we received. His medical needs were met and satisfied. Rocky will be in our station from time to time so that he can re-acclimate himself to the work environment. He will be happy to receive visitors when he is here. We ask you call the Jenkintown Police Department at 215-884-1202 and press “2″ to speak with the Police Department Clerk to see if he is in. Thank you.
