Rocky is progressing well and is undergoing intense rehabilitation with the working dog center at the University of Pennsylvania hospital. He has lost about twelve pounds, all of which appears to be muscle mass. The rehabilitation will be a lengthy process; however, Rocky is already showing signs of improvement. He is evaluated each training day and the current thought is that he may be strong enough to return to duty in about five weeks, as long as his progress continues at the current pace. Rocky is the first working dog to participate in this newly formed rehabilitation center at the University of Pennsylvania hospital. The center treats canines for cancer and diabetes, as well as trains canines for drug and bomb detection, as well as other disciplines.
Again, the Jenkintown Police Department is extremely grateful for all the kind support we received. His medical needs were met and satisfied. Rocky will be in our station from time to time so that he can re-acclimate himself to the work environment. He will be happy to receive visitors when he is here. We ask you call the Jenkintown Police Department at 215-884-1202 and press “2″ to speak with the Police Department Clerk to see if he is in. Thank you.

The ice storm that impacted our region this past February was one of the most damaging storms experienced in PECO’s history, second only to Hurricane Sandy in terms of damage to the company’s electrical system. In order to continue to provide information to its customers, PECO will host an Open House on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Jenkintown HighSchool (325 Highland Ave.) in the cafeteria. The purpose of this event is to help customers understand the impact of this storm, PECO’s efforts to safely restore service, and address any customer concerns.
PECO employees will be on hand to speak with residents and provide helpful information including information on our area’s electric system, why during a storm service is sometimes restored to some areas but not others nearby, how the company prepares for and responds to a storm, and answer any other questions you may have. There is no set agenda or formal presentation, so please feel free to arrive at your convenience.
We look forward to seeing you at this event.
