PECO Accelerated Gas Infrastructure Modernization Project (AGIMP) Temporary Road Closures & Natural Gas Service Upgrades

Natural Gas Service Upgrades
PECO has completed installation of new gas mains and will begin natural gas service upgrades inside of homes on Hillside Avenue for customers previously notified, beginning on Wednesday, October 14th through Friday, October 16th from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Hillside Avenue between Walnut Street and Florence Avenue will be closed to thru traffic 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM to allow for the service upgrades to be safely completed in this area.

Residents will continue to have access to their properties during this process.  If you do not reside on this road please take another route during these times to avoid disruption of your travels.

Sanitary Sewer Main Project Update Thursday, October 8th & Friday, October 9th

The Borough has been notified by the project contractor, National Water Main Cleaning Company, that the Public Sanitary Sewer Main Project will continue Thursday, October 8th and Friday, October 9th from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. 

The following roads will be affected:

• Thursday, October 8th- Washington Lane between Newbold Road and Greenwood Avenue and Vernon Road between Washington Lane and West Avenue (Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control)
• Friday, October 9th- Washington Lane between Greenwood Avenue and Pear Street (Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control)

These roads will remain open during this process, however intermittent temporary delays may be expected to allow for life safety of personnel performing the work. Additionally, there will be limited parking in various areas along these roads which will be marked with “temporary no parking” signage. Please use caution in the area or make plans to take an alternate route to avoid further disruption to your travels. Thank you for your patience and understanding while these necessary improvements are made.

Residents will continue to have access to their properties during this process.  If you do not reside on this road please take another route during these times to avoid disruption of your travels.

The Sewer lining and cured in place pipe (CIPP) spot repairs have been completed and the contractor will begin testing and grouting the lateral connections in the sanitary sewer main during this final phase.  The contractor has reported that there will be no disruption of service and no foul odor from chemical emittance.

This work is taking place on the Publicly owned portion of the Borough Sanitary Sewer System and is part of the continual and ongoing effort by the Borough to reduce inflow and infiltration (I&I) to the sanitary sewer system, saving money on treatment costs, addressing environmental concerns and providing for additional sanitary sewer capacity allowing for future or proposed business EDU connections.  The funding on this project is being provided through the State Grant Funding (PA Small Water Grant) in the amount of $390,000 that the Borough was awarded.
