Road Closure on Maple St. and Back to School Message from Police Chief DiValentino

Aqua PA will be doing work and need to close the 400 block of Maple St. on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Emergency vehicles will be able to access the street during this time. Residents may access this block of Maple St. via Hillside Ave., during the closure times.

Dear Residents,

As a reminder, the first day of school is Tuesday, September 7th. Motorists should be mindful of the speed limit in the Borough, which is 25MPH. The police department’s patrol division and traffic safety unit will be enforcing the speed limit vigorously with special attention to the school zones.
The police department views speeding on Borough roads as non-negotiable and violators will be cited. Our goal is to keep our children and citizens safe walking to and from school. Thank you for your cooperation with this goal.

Burglary Updates from Police Chief DiValentino

Dear Residents,

On Saturday, 08/07/2010, at 0443AM, Jenkintown Police arrested a subject in the 200 block of Mather Road and charged him with Burglary. This arrest was the result of community and police working together. An alert neighbor called the police about a suspicious person on Mather Road. As a result of the call, patrol responded and arrested a subject backing out of a driveway in the 200 block of Mather Road. The subject was arrested and charged with one count of Burglary and Theft.

Note: Burglary task force personnel were already assigned to (4) areas of the Borough. The officers converged in the area and were able to effect the arrest. We are not sure if this subject is related to all the other Burglaries in the area, but we will continue to investigate this case.

Traffic Alert: Maple St. 8/4/10

The 400 Block of Maple Street will be closed to traffic from West Avenue, on Wednesday, 8/4/10 for several hours due to construction. Local traffic may enter and leave from Hillside Avenue.

Dear Resident,

I am pleased, but cautious, to advise that Jenkintown Borough has not had any reported burglaries directly related to the recent daytime break-ins over the past several weeks. I like to think it is due to the increased patrol both marked and unmarked and also by the increase in phone calls by citizens who reported suspicious activity in their neighborhood. We are not letting our guard down, we will continue to be vigilant until the suspects are arrested and placed where they belong. We ask that you continue to call the police department if you observe something that just does not seem right. Remember; if you see anything that makes you uneasy please call right away. River Float Date Change

The River Float is a tubing trip down the Delaware River in beautiful Bucks County. Cost is $20 per person, and you can get details and also sign up at http://recboard.eventbrite.com.
